WHO WE ARE
Linsey Asbury: Senior at Longwood University
-Linsey is a Criminal Justice/Criminology and Sociology double major with a technical productions minor.
- Linsey has volunteered at clean Virginia waterways on campus, and she is passionate about making sure marine ecosystems are saved and preserved.
Personal Statement:
"I grew up on the island of Oahu, Hawai'i and I went to the beach almost every
other weekend. Marine life was important to all of us because it affected the
area we live in and I carry that with me every day even now that I have moved
back into the mainland states. I have also done a study abroad in Thailand and
it saddened me to see the state that their coral reefs are in especially since I
have seen amazing pictures of what those same dead, or dying, reefs looked like
about ten years ago. The world used to be a beautiful place but now it looks like a
plucked rose, still beautiful but obviously dying. I want to change that and
give the world the roots it needs to grow back strong and vibrant like before."

Emma Giambalvo: Senior at Longwood University
-Emma is a Communication Studies major with a Digital Media concentration.
- Emma grew up near the ocean and has been connected to it her whole life. She wants to make sure future generations can experience the beauty of it she has.
Personal Statement:
"This project was so important to me. The reason for that is I grew up in Florida,
right on the coast. While living there, we were fortunate enough to be able to
see a few corals if we went far enough into the beach by our house. I want the
excitement I had to see them be instilled into future generations. This feeling
cannot be the same if the corals aren’t there after I’m gone. I want to be able to
serve as a voice to the coral reefs and the ocean as a whole. While working on
this project, we have found so many great ideas to improve the reefs and make
sure generations to come can enjoy it. I know myself and my group members
are very grateful for you visiting our site, and please reach out if you have any
questions or are willing to help!"

Hannah Capps: Senior at Longwood University
-Hannah is an Anthropology major.
-Hannah is a loving mother and a wife, so she is concerned for the well being of her children's future lives, and how our global oceans will affect them.
Personal Statement:
"I am a mother of three wonderful children who all love nature and enjoy
being outside. They especially love to go to aquariums and look at all the
different sea life and colorful coral that they have on display. One day I would
love to show them a coral reef in its natural habitat and teach them the
importance it has in the world. That is why the preservation of our coral reefs
is important to me not just for our current generation but also for those
who have yet to come."

WHAT WE DO
